The Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) serves as the primary arm of Egypt’s economic diplomacy and a key driver of the country’s external economic engagement. It plays a central role in enhancing the global competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and advancing national development priorities. The ECS supports Egyptian exporters in accessing international markets, promotes the attraction of foreign direct investment that aligns with national development objectives, and contributes to the rationalization of imports in a manner that supports domestic production and industry. In addition, the ECS represents Egypt in international economic and trade organizations, as well as in bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations. Through a network of trade offices abroad, the ECS works to strengthen Egypt’s economic presence globally by delivering high-performance institutional services and practicing proactive economic diplomacy in support of sustainable development. ⸻ Objectives of the Egyptian Commercial Service The ECS seeks to achieve the following objectives: Increase Egyptian exports and diversify export markets to support economic growth and improve the balance of payments. Enhance the international competitiveness of the Egyptian economy through effective promotion and the provision of market intelligence. Attract value-added foreign investments that support technology transfer, job creation, and sustainable development. Safeguard and advance Egypt’s economic interests abroad at both the bilateral and multilateral levels. Strengthen Egypt’s integration into the global economy through trade agreements, partnerships, and international cooperation. Contribute to trade balance sustainability by rationalizing imports and encouraging local manufacturing. Promote a favorable international trade environment by defending Egypt’s interests within international economic and trade organizations.
